Attention: All craft Teachers and activity leaders...
"Having trouble decoding your Easter
craft instructions?"
Unlock the secret to loud and clear craft projects
by Geraldine Jozefiak of The Craft Teacher
Re: Cracking the
Easter Bunny Blues...
Dear Fellow Teacher and Crafter
Crafts are an essential part of Easter
festivities. Everyone wants to make and take home the perfect gift for
mum and dad. You need eggs, cards, gifts, decorations.
So what's
your problem!
Finding Easter craft projects isn't the problem. There are so many
different sites offering masses of projects. The problem comes in
finding a source of craft ideas and activity pages that were written
with you, (the teacher or crafter) in mind.
The last thing you need at this time of year, is another book, in
another unfamiliar style.
You haven't got lots of time to
practice on anything too complicated so past experience makes you
resist anything that appears big on promises.
What if I told you
that teaching crafts is easy with a 5 point plan. A
plan that is the basis for all of our craft projects.
The 5 point
plan puts you in control of
any project.
Now this formula is no secret. It's been used by teachers for
years. Over my years of teaching I've magically seen it help complete
novices learn and share craft ideas with others.
So what's this 5-point plan? It's simple. I'll share the decoding
with you now.
1. Know your
subject. By that I mean read through any
activity
you are going to share so that you understand it,
and make
samples and different colourways of the
project. These samples
will help your learners to see what you are asking
them to do
and give them ideas for their own choice of colours
and
materials.
2. Gather all your materials together in one place ready for the off.
Make sure everything 'works' and that you have
enough for
everyone to complete the project - before you
start. Observe
all recommended health and safety requirements when
storing,
handling and using certain materials.
3. Introduce the subject bit by bit, using your samples as ideas.
Don't give too many instructions at
once. Those who like to get
stuck in will want to start quickly, whilst
others may need more
encouragement. Have you the time to
support more reluctant
learners? Are there written instructions
for them to follow if you
are busy elsewhere?
4. Do a mixture of demonstration and practical work. Make sure
everyone has the time they need to learn some new
skills and
work on existing ones. It really does take time to
learn new
things if there has been no activity like it before.
5. Summarise the activity to remind everyone of what they did and
how well they did it. Have some idea of how to
build on the
session with further work. Perhaps there are
ways to extend what
you have done, perhaps incorporating other subject
skills and
other curriculum areas.
It's as simple at that.
It uses learning theories and helps those
who learn through their eyes, ears and touch.
If you present a
session that meets all these requirements then you're on a
winner.
And if you can find
an activity book that uses these
strategies, then they too must
understand about learning, and
teaching.
It means knowing
what the learners need to get them going, and
what you need to be able to do share a confident craft session.
And
that's where our 25 ways to Easter can help you with your
Easter craft planning.
Helping you spend
less time planning and more time doing!
Imagine the scene. It's 8.30am on Monday morning....
You're not
looking forward to another busy teaching week. As you sit in the
staff room drinking a cup of coffee you pick up a copy of a new
activity
book. You flick through the pages with 25
step-by-step activities and find one that's perfect for your up-coming
activity session.
You were beginning to
panic about finding the time to hunt out a project, and how to
free up another valuable 30 minutes to work out the
instructions.
You take a quick look through the chosen activity you want and find
it's all laid out just as you'd like it.
- No more scrabbling
around to see what you need.
- It's nice and clear, and easy on the
eye -
- AND you see, immediately, exactly how to
introduce it and what
steps you need to go through.
- It's written in simple language to flow from
one step to the next.
Now it's
never been easier to choose and run successful craft sessions.
You realise that here's the solution to your activity programme and an
essential addition to your classroom resources.
The more you flick
through, the more excited you get.
Why couldn't all instructions be
written this way?
Well, because not everyone
who writes instructions is a teacher. And often, those who write
the projects haven't even
made them up to see if they work.
So how do we know if
these work? Because we follow our 5 step sleuth plan to make sure
they make sense, before they come to you.
Here's our 5 step sleuth plan that we follow when testing the projects:
1. Look at ideas gathered over the years and adapt, improve or
create a project
2. Make up samples of the various stages in order to see how best
to explain the steps
3. Practice introducing, and leading the project and gaining
feedback from the class
4. Type up the introduction which is where we lead you into the
project. If this doesn't give you the
gist of
the thing then you
won't go further.
5. Draft out What you need and What
you do
(the vital step-by-step instructions) AND write What
Next: ideas
on extending the project into further classroom
subject area
Using this fail-proof 5-point plan will guarantee you'll have a
hassle-free session with loads of happy bunnies (if that's the project
you choose!) in the classroom. And if you couple this plan with
OUR 5 point sleuth plan then you know, absolutely, that you have
one of the best teaching approaches and project outlines out
there.
This
works, time and time again. Your teaching, with
our instructions.
Now I know that choosing a new company's products can be costly and
time consuming.
Yes, there's lots of choice in the marketplace, but is it reliable and
clearly
presented? And, is it all there? - (you know how many projects
you've read that really don't explain things - something's often
missing!
All you're after is a craft resource, full of clear teaching ideas
written in a clear, straightforward way.
Craft activity pages that don't take an age to read, understand or
prepare.
It would be nice, wouldn't it to come across a thoughtfully compiled
Easter craft book, packed with Easter craft activity pages,
complete with notes, glossaries and accompanying line drawings - on ONE
single theme.
Read what others have said about this product:
"It's
been fantastic to have so many ideas in one place. It makes life
easier and the children love the
projects"
Jane, Grade 5 teacher, Norfolk UK
"The
instructions are very clear (with) excellent coverage of tips and
advice. The diagrams at
the rear are
veryhelpful".
David, Sure Start outreach worker, Kings Lynn, Norfolk UK
" A
good range of different crafts using different skills and
materials!
Anne, Childminding Matters UK
I'd like you to take a moment to consider the problems you usually have
when looking for craft instructions to share with others?
Do any
of these apply to you?
- Do I feel I can trust the
instructions
to help me make something like the
photograph?
-
Are the instructions complete?
- Does it read like a recipe? Is it
easy to
understand and follow?
- Does it give me confidence?
- Is the 'What you need' section
clear,
using materials that I can find?
- Is all the information laid
out clearly so that I can 'eyeball'
it quickly when
pushed for time-
Will it cut down on my preparation time?
- Are there enough usable ideas to
make it worthwhile trying a new layout?
You've probably ticked off a few. If you have you can rest
assured that '25 Ways to Crack the Easter Bunny Blues' has been tried
and tested over many years in many teaching situations.
25 easy projects, each with 2 activity pages -
all together in one step by step downloadable Ebook.
Having taught crafts, and teachers for 15 years I know what information
you want for your teaching. I know how quickly you want to be able to
scan the page to check out each project.
No
more scrabbling around...
No more last minute
projects...
No more late nights researching what to do!
25 Ways to Crack to Easter Bunny Blues has it all.
- Introduction
- Glossaries
- Notes
- 20 Double-page
layouts
- Accompanying
Line drawings on selected
projects
To help you to build a visual map, each individual project is
separated into four key sections of the 5 point plan
(introduction, What you need, What you do, What next).
It's so easy to read that you'll wonder why all instructions
aren't
written this way.
Well, all of ours, are! And what's more
this is just a taster sample of our bigger books - 50 ways to papercrafts and 50 ways to Christmas Crafts.
It just couldn't be
simpler.
It's all here:
25 no-fuss
activities, ready to go!
The step by step
instructions will lead you by the hand. You don't have to have spent
ages making up samples -
although samples will help you to
encourage everyone to join in.
Wouldn't it be great to have 25 craft ideas that you could come back to
time and time again! Enough in one book to keep you going for at least
one season - maybe two or three.
Imagine!
So how are each of the sections broken down....
The overview gives you a synopsis of the project.
What you need lists all the materials you need to complete your
chosen project.
What you do is broken down into sub headings, each of which are
numbered and cross referenced to the number of stages required of the
project
And finally, What next. Here
you'll find ideas to build on what you've
done and suggestions for other
projects.
Now with most activity books you'll get lots of ideas. But what
about those hard to understand projects?
Sometimes, as hard as
writers try, there's nothing like some extra graphics to back up
the
words - because many of us learn best through pictures. So '25 ways to
crack the Easter Bunny Blues' has some additional line
drawings to
go alongside some of the written instructions.
All
together it's a great solution to
that age old problem - what can we do today!
Now you don't need to be the expert! It means that any teacher,,
parent, or helper can
lead the activity sessions.
This frees up staff and saves time.
Still not sure? Take a look at one of our double page Easter
craft
ideas, click the link to one of our easy Easter
craft projects and
see how it's put together.
I want you to read it carefully, word for
word. Get familiar with the layout and how it comes together. The
time you spend now may save on classroom
hours.
Can
you see how '25 ways to Crack The Easter Bunny Blues' can slash
your preparation and research time? - and remember ALL of my
publications are written in the same style.
So once you're familiar with it, you'll know they are all laid out in
the same no-nonsense way. More ideas to keep you confident in the
classroom.
Imagine how useful it will be as part of your creative activity
programme.
A 'clutch' of craft projects, there when you need them. Not having to
scrabble around for ideas that work will save you time and reduce your
stress.
And it'll be like having an extra teacher with you, step-by-step of the
way.
Of course you'd expect to pay the going rate for such a book - but what
might that be.
If you were to buy a paper back book it might cost
you at least £15 and you'd only get a smattering of projects,
some rather badly explained. But 25 really clear projects that
you can use straight away, well that's a bit different.
25 projects means 25 (or more) hours you wont have to spend
outside of the classroom. How
invaluable would that be? What price would you put on your time?
Freeing up your time to spend on other activities.
Well as it will prove so useful to your library, I know you'll want to
get it right away. At our easily affordable price of $47 it's
practically a give away. (Although we're in the UK, this ebook is
administered through the US based Company Clickbank ).
Let me remind you what the ebook includes:
- Step-by-step craft
projects
- An accompanying photograph
for
each project
- A clear numbered
breakdown of all the steps
involved
- Selected visual line
drawings to
support text instructions
- Glossary
