“You are about to Learn
25 Paper Craft Activities from
The Craft Teacher”
The words out! I love crafts. I love making them, looking at them, holding them, and teaching them.
What I don’t love is looking for ideas – and I’m not alone…

If you know my story you'll know that I started teaching in Day Care Centres, working with people with also Physical Disabilities.
I was working with my local Education Authority visiting Centres
offering creative activity ideas for their Centre users. It was great
work but tiring.
I was employed for a run of 10 - 15 weeks and each week I was asked to come up with something new.
They didn't want much! Just- Something that was neither too easy, nor too challenging.
- Something that would suit the majority of users.
- Something that was within budget.
It was a tall order - particularly as I didn't know who would turn
up from day to day.
I soon learned that as well as teaching I had to learn research skills.
We're talking some 15 years ago now before mass access to the Internet.
I spent time scouring the local library craft books, begged and borrowed from friends and neighbours, and spent hours leafing through jumble sales, car boot sales and anywhere that might offer me some inspiration.
For what?..
Somehow or other, through all this effort I managed to put together a series of craft ideas,
week after week, term after term, year upon year.
During this time I got to try out the ones that worked - and those that hadn't been too successful.
I tweaked them, changed them, tried them in different
places, with
different people and learnt how to write them and share them.
Of all the things I figured out during this period of working in Day
Care, Residential Centres,
Schools, and Colleges was that busy people need solutions.
And I began to think that I might have a solution to what busy crafters want -
and that's "more of the same" ...
Like you I'm a crafter and I've got my favourite subjects.
I return to them in times of stress. They're a comfort, a known. They give me pleasure and I know that amongst them I'll always find a project that's just right.
Finding the right kind of Paper Crafts is no easy matter.
You know what you want. And you don't want to spend precious time looking for the right one.
- You want ideas that are easy to follow but not necessarily easy.
- You're after activities that work, so that you don't have to!
- You'd rather get stuck into the making than stuck into the looking.
How do I know all this? Because I craft. I teach. And I hate wasting time and money on things that are difficult and the wrong kind of level.
It's a
case of not only not having all my
eggs in one
basket (as the Easter Bunny would say) but hardly any at all!
I've spent serious time, energy and money looking for my own Paper Craft stash. So I've put all of the best of the rest that I've ever learnt, taught and shared in one place.
No more looking, hunting or darting about.
You might wonder what's different about these ones? After all, there are loads of places to get ideas - many of them free.
And the answer really lies with Stephen, who I taught at one of those Centres in the early days of my teaching…

Stephen had been in the Police Force in the troubles in Northern Ireland. A young man at the time, he was shot and paralysed from the waist down.
When I met him he was in a wheelchair, with a broken body but not a
broken spirit.
It was Stephen who taught me that it's people who matter. That where's there ability, there's less disability.
Where there's a will, there's definitely a way, if you're prepared to take the time and pay the price.
He told me
- That my style of teaching was really 'facilitating' – not teaching at all
- That my way of writing instructions was all about helping people to learn in whatever way they could
- That I was helping him and the others to take part, to contribute and to conquer
It was heady stuff for a new teacher. Stephen may well
have
forgotten me, but I have never forgotten him and the lessons he taught
me.
I decided there and then that I wanted to be able to put together ideas and instructions in such a way that anyone, anywhere, whatever their ability could follow things through.
- That you could pick up these ideas when you wanted, on your own or with others and have the same result
- That all my instructions would be written in the same winning style
- To the same standard and layout
- With equal effort and detail paid to each section, each step, each direction
And here you've got, all in one place, ready to go, you've got
25 Paper Craft Projects
25 projects tried, tested and tweaked with many groups of
people.
They've been shared with teachers in Adult Education, delivered to Health Care professionals, Carers and Activity Leaders and taught to Elders, Children and a whole range of others in between.
I can honestly say that here, in each individual Collection you've got the best of some 15 years of teaching experience.
Even if some of the ideas aren't new to you, the way they are presented will be.
Like anything new, it'll take a little time to become familiar with the layout. But once you do you're in for a treat, because ALL my projects are written in the same style – if not the same length.
There are other teaching manuals and craft courses available from The Craft Teacher in different layouts, but this Craft Collection Series together with the Treasure Chest Series are the most popular double page layout versions.
And I can see why…
When you're crafting you need just enough information to give you what you need.
Everything in, with nothing missed out.
And carefully put together, these 2 page spreads are the ideal

eyes rest on each section as you find it.
